Mobile game revenue is predicted to grow to $68.5 billion by the end of this year, a global increase of 26.7%. In three years, it is expected to hit $95 billion. China is on the lead in the market, generating $21.6 billion, followed by the US and Japan, at 12.1 billion and 11.5 billion.
The latest report by Newzoo also found that iOS dominates the mobile market, generating $33.5 billion in revenue, which is close to 50% of the market. Revenues from the Google Play Store are expected to reach $24.5 billion.
During H1 of 2019, 19.4 billion games were downloaded on Google Play and iOS. The biggest genre on the market was role-playing games at 35.5%.
Meanwhile, the top publisher, Tencent, accounted for 9.4% of all game revenues in Google Play and iOS.
The report also zooms in on the smartphone market. The company suggests that users will grow by 8.3% to 3.2 billion.
China has the most significant number of users, at 851.2 million, followed by India and the US. The rise in the number of users will continue to grow to get to 3.9 billion in 2022.
Apple and Samsung are still the global favorites, but Chinese handset makers like Xiaomi and Huawei continue growing.
This year, 236.6 million tablets were active with the most being Apple.
