EMarketer’s reports based on Marketing Dive estimates put Amazon at $4.61 billion ad revenues in the US by the end of the year.
Early forecasts projected revenue of $2.89 billion in March 2018. The latest updates show that the company is growing much faster than it was expected to.
Indeed, the company is expected to take a 4.15% share of the digital ad market in the US this year, making it top three, together with Microsoft and Oath.
This news means that Amazon is challenging larger competitors like Facebook and Google as it gnaws at their market slices. Together, the duopoly holds 57.7% of the market share.
At the same time, the e-commerce giant is giving advertisers an excellent opportunity to reach customers in their decision-making process. Brands and retailers stand to benefit the most from this.
It is noteworthy that the company is expected to generate a net revenue of $1.61 billion from mobile advertising this year, which makes for a 242% increase from last year.
The forecast puts Amazon at a 2.1% share of the mobile ad market in the US.
